March Recap:

March Amplified: Capturing the Heartbeat of Kelowna’s Music Scene

This March, our cameras rarely stopped rolling. From rowdy band battles to moody speakeasies and sold-out local shows, we had the privilege of documenting some of the most electric moments in Kelowna’s music scene. The energy was infectious, the talent undeniable, and the stories unfolding on stage were too good not to share. Here’s a look back at a month that turned the volume all the way up.

March was an incredible month for us in the music and entertainment scene, filled with electric performances, exciting events, and unforgettable moments behind the camera.

One of the biggest highlights was photographing the Battle of the Bands at Red Bird Brewing Co. The competition was fierce, but two standout local acts—Lucky Monkey and Crush XO—stole the show with their magnetic stage presence and infectious energy. It’s no surprise they came out on top! As winners, both bands have earned a spot at this summer’s Rock the Lake Music Festival, and we can’t wait to see them light up the stage once again. Other awesome performances came from the Pickleheads? and Brokedown Trucks, who brought their own flavor and fire to the night.

Later in the month, we had the pleasure of catching Lucky Monkey at O’Flannigan’s during St. Paddy’s Day weekend, where we filmed a feature video of their high-octane performance. Their showmanship was off the charts! Around the same time, we captured Crush XO back at O’Flannigan’s, and let’s just say the flash photography practically took itself—these two bands bring raw power and charisma every time they hit the stage.

Mid-month, we were invited to the Grand Opening of Evilgenius Artworx tattoo parlour, where we met a new band on the scene: The Wild Cards. With their rock-and-roll vibe, punchy covers, and a gritty metal edge, this three-piece group definitely made a strong first impression. We had a blast capturing their energy and style as they helped kick off a new chapter for the parlour.

But the month didn’t slow down. We were thrilled to be part of a high-energy performance by rising local stars Cobra Radio, handling both videography and photography for their epic Saturday night set at The Blue Gator. That venue was absolutely buzzing—it’s rare to feel that kind of electric atmosphere in Kelowna, and we’re so glad we got to help capture it.

Rounding out the month, we headed downtown to Casa de Frida on Lawrence Ave. to showcase the launch of their new Fridays at Frida’s Salsa Night. The upstairs speakeasy was transformed into a sultry, mysterious dance space full of rhythm and life. We were thrilled to create a promo video for the event and help spread the word about this unique addition to Kelowna’s nightlife.

While the music scene as a whole was vibrant and exciting this month, a few acts truly stood out. The undeniable connection that Cobra Radio, Lucky Monkey, and Crush XO share with their fans is something special. Their energy, passion, and presence set them apart—and we’re lucky to have been there to witness and document it all.

February Recap:

Poppa Nuge Feb 2025

February was a busy and exciting month for us at Sky Eyes Video & Photography! We had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from real estate photography to capturing live music events. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to:

Real Estate Photography Success
We partnered with several local real estate agents to photograph stunning properties, helping them showcase homes in the best light possible. One of the properties we shot sold in just three days! It’s always rewarding to see our work play a role in a fast and successful sale. High-quality images make a difference, and we’re proud to help agents and sellers put their best foot forward in the market.

Frantic’s Album Launch Party at Dunnenzie’s
We had the pleasure of attending our friend Frantic’s rap album launch party at Dunnenzie’s. This local pizza spot is known for its great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food and drinks. The venue has a warm, old-school Italian feel on one side and a more modern, high-top seating area near the extensive bar on the other. The event was filled with energy, great performances, and an engaged crowd.

There were a total of nine acts throughout the night, including members of The Bear Theatre, Songs by Death, Fungle Jungle, and more! The evening culminated in an electrifying performance by Frantic himself as he launched his new album: A Verdant Reverie: Act I.

All profits from the night went to support Solidarity Sundays, an anti-capitalist mutual aid collective helping Kelowna’s unhoused community with meals and essential resources. Every $2 donated provides a meal and warm drink to someone in need!

Beatbox Battle at Pretty Not Bad
Another highlight of the month was heading to Pretty Not Bad (PNB) to watch our friend Poppa Nuge host and compete in a beatbox battle. The night was packed with incredible talent, including a standout performance from headliner Shalina. We had the unique opportunity to plug directly into the venue’s audio, allowing us to capture high-quality video and sound for both Poppa Nuge and Shalina.

With Phil’s extensive experience in music production, sound engineering, and post-production, we knew the recordings were in the best hands. His expertise ensures that every detail is fine-tuned to create a polished and professional final product. He is more than just our music producer—his deep understanding of audio dynamics and artistic vision helps elevate our projects to the next level.

It was an amazing experience to be part of such a dynamic and creative event, and we can’t wait to share the final videos soon!

As always, we’re grateful for the opportunities to capture these moments and work with such talented individuals. We’re looking forward to what March has in store—stay tuned for more updates!
